My Fitness Journey

People can easily become overweight as a result of a complex combination of biological and psychological factors combined with environmental and social influences. Is not simply down to an individual’s lack of willpower. This can lead to many health problems as I myself discovered. I suffered from stomach issues, breathing issues and had high cholesterol and was hospitalised many times. This was due to combination of age, bad diet and a sedentary lifestyle. Something had to change. So over the course of 1 year I had made changes to my lifestyle and continue to do so.

Lifestyle Change, Not Diet

The best way to lose body fat is to be in a calorie deficit. This is the most tested and proven
technique. A calorie deficit occurs when one consumes fewer calories than the body expends.
This technique avoids all fad diets and is sustainable, it is a lifestyle change as opposed to a quick fix.
It is best to avoid any drastic cuts in calories (500+). A calorie deficit of 200 – 500 calories per
day is effective for healthy and sustainable weight loss.
There are some simple techniques that will allow you to stick with your calorie reduction.

Exercise and activity

Benefit of exercise includes reducing body fat and gaining lean muscle. This can actually slowly increase the amount of calories you can
consume. Exercise also stimulates your metabolism, helps you burn calories and can even temporarily suppress your appetite post-workout.
